High Tech Aussie clothing company Skins is introducing its first ever cycle-specific range available in the UK from April. The company's compression clothing has already been used by many MTB cyclists not only for training and recovery, but also for competition –- despite previously having had no integral chamois pad. Now, this new range (aptly named 'Skins Cycle') of four men's and women's garments – shorts, bib shorts, longs and bib longs – features a high-quality chamois designed and engineered in Italy. Using 'Elastic Interface Technology', it's one of the world’s most advanced forms of padding and has been race-tested for cycling. The pad has been constructed using different types of foam with varied densities to provide the best weight distribution on the saddle and enable three way stretch – crucial when it has to be combined with the specific compression properties of Skins' fabric. The range also boasts a revolutionary cut to provide greater movement and reduced friction so that maximum efficiency is achieved in the riding position. Riders will obviously also benefit from the key benefits of Skins' proprietary fabric which applies pressure to specific parts of the body using 'engineered gradient compression'. That means, unlike most compression products, pressure is applied over specific body parts – as opposed to an indiscriminate tightening effect. This enables enhanced oxygen delivery, more focused muscle power and minimised muscle vibration. Skins have got extensive scientific evidence to show that their products actually work – they’re also, unusually, endorsed by the Australian Physiotherapy Association. Skins' proven benefits are: - enhanced circulation, increased oxygenation and reduced lactic acid build-up - more focused muscle power - minimised muscle vibration, resulting in less soft tissue damage and muscle soreness - the delayed onset of, and reduction in, muscle soreness - accelerated recovery time On top of all that, all Skins' products are excellent at wicking (the fabric promotes evaporative cooling), can optimise your body temperature in cold or warm conditions, are treated with an antibacterial material and provide sun safety with 50+ UV protection. While Skins are commonly worn underneath other layers, the new Cycle range also features strategically placed reflective strips and logos to enhance on-road visibility. RRPs/Stockists Skins Cycle - Mens & Womens. Shorts - £99.99. Bib Shorts - £129.99. Longs - £129.99. Bib Longs - £149.99. The men's range comes in six different sizes, the women's in four.
